Birthday Card Ideas

By admin   |   December 29, 2008

Paper crafting pro, Alisa Bangerter, designed two darling birthday cards using our Raspberry Truffle Cake card kit. Both of these cards are currently featured in the Birthday issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

On her “Make a Wish Card,” Alisa created a candle by rolling and flattening a piece of white cardstock (2.5″ x 4″) and cutting a piece of ribbon into the shape of a flame.

This card was featured in PaperCrafts Magazine Jan/Feb 2009

Alisa described her “Birthday Cupcake Card” design as “out-of-the-box.” This is because she used the inside of a card base as a decorative accent. By cutting one of our card bases in half and adhering it to a larger base, the inside sentiment becomes a featured element and plays off the cupcake embellishment she created. This “out-of-the-box” idea makes a much larger card (5″ x 7″); the perfect size for a group of friends, co-workers, or family members to sign.

A complete list of instructions for these cards are available in the January/February 2009 issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

This Little Card of Mine is a blog I visit often and is hosted by talented paper crafter and designer, Jana Millen. In honor of World Card Making Day, last Saturday, she hosted a contest and giveaway on her blog. After 184 entries, this card of Curt’s won second place! You should check out the gallery to see a great collection of all the cards that were entered.

easy as 1…2…3

When we designed our most recent card kit: Cutie Pie we wanted the inside to really dazzle! Sometimes after creating a card we feel that the card is so cute it could be the gift…so we decided to punch notches on the inside of this card to hold a gift card. It works so perfect with the printed sentiment that I just had to share this little trick. Then, to embellish the outside we used paper from the Little Boy Blue assortment and then adhered it to the outside. We’d love to see what you’ve created with our Cutie Pie card kit.

Rock-a-Bye Baby Ruffles Card

By admin   |   September 20, 2008

Before our card designs get their place of honor in our gallery, their first stop is a blog post to highlight the great designs. This darling card was made by Curt. Love his technique of how he inventively used the ribbon and paper to make dang cute ruffles! Way to go! Plus, look at the pink dotted “ribbon strip” it’s not ribbon at all…just part of the border strip from our Cutie Pie kit! Cool eh?

Truffles and parfaits and birthdays! Oh, my!

By admin   |   May 6, 2008

I love celebrating birthdays, attending and throwing birthday parties, and making birthday cards. With that said, it was so easy to decide that I wanted my first kits to be birthday party inspired. My color inspiration for the card kits come from the yummy desserts:  Raspberry Truffle Cake and Blueberry Lime Parfait. Both kits will be available for purchase, through this website, starting Monday June 2, 2008. Here’s a sneak peek of what comes in each kit.

Cherries never looked so good

By admin   |   April 28, 2008

I’m loving my new blog design! I can’t believe it! It really captures the vision of my company, and the designers at Logoworks by HP did a great job incorporating the look of my “inspiration dress” (see the “Fancy Threads for my blog” post for a better explanation). I’m so excited to continue and share my inspiration and design process…with a few unexpected surprises along the way.

Cherries Jubilee Top Ten List

By admin   |   April 17, 2008

10 bits of inspiration which influenced me to name my company: Cherries Jubilee Creations

1 I have been a fan of artist Mary Engelbreit since I was a little girl. I’ve even nicknamed her “Mary Cherry” as she accents many of her designs with cherries. In college, my dorm room was decorated with her motif, and now my office has taken on her theme.

2 Since I’m such of fan of Mary Engelbreit, I have my “everyday” cherry dishes.

3 I also have my “special occasion” cherry Mary Engelbreit dishes.

4 An ordinary white lamp spruced up with cherry ribbon and cherries brightens up a dark corner of my kitchen.

5 Most of the items I bought for my baby girl were pink. But, I couldn’t pass up this cherry diaper bag.

6 I’m drawn to two things: a good deal and cherries! Put those together and it’s obvious why I couldn’t pass-up these shoes from Payless Shoe Source. I loved them so much I bought two pair. The first pair I wore out, and unfortunately they are probably in a landfill somewhere. On that note, I need to go recycle something.

7 Oh good, something I can recycle. By 11 a.m. every morning (which means I’m due for one in about 20 minutes) I am usually seen with a Cherry Coke or Wild Cherry Pepsi in my hand! And I’m always good about putting my bottles and/or cans in the recycle bin. Just doing my part to save the rainforests!

8 Childhood game favorites: Chutes & Ladders, Candy Land, and Hi Ho Cherry-O. I fondly remember playing this game. Trying to pick all the cherries off my tree and put them in the basket without the crow or dog eating them! Good times!

9 I grew up in Cottonwood Heights, Utah; right around the corner from Cherry Tree Lane.

10 Married life introduced me to the magic of Saturday Night Live. Subsequently, my husband and I are huge Molly Shannon fans. We especially love her  “Sally O’Malley Rockettes I’m 50″ sketch, highlighting her audition dance: Cherries Jubilee.
